Edison Company's Wild West Shorts

Black and white, silent, 1894
Edison Manufacturing Company
Runtime: as listed individually

SYNOPSIS
In 1894, the Edison Manufacturing Company shot four short films that featured performers from Buffalo Bill's Wild West show.

Annie Oakley is a 21 second short featuring the famed sharpshooter shooting an array of targets.

Bucking Broncho, also 21 seconds, features Lee Martin (credited in the Edison catalog) riding a bucking white horse in a small corral.

Buffalo Dance runs for 15 seconds and features Native Americans performing a dance.

Sioux Ghost Dance is a 21 second short and features Native Americans performing a dance.

These films are probably the first appearances of Native Americans for a movie camera.

All of these films can be viewed on the Library of Congress web site.
